Independent HSK learning reference

Built to make HSK learning clearer and more useful.

HSK Atlas is a free, independent project created by Lucas. It is not affiliated with the official HSK administration.

Why I built HSK Atlas

Learners need more than a list of words. They need to know which HSK level to study, how the exam works, what changed in HSK 3.0, and where each claim came from. HSK Atlas brings those tasks together in one fast reference.

On this site, “HSK” means the familiar six-level exam unless a page explicitly says “HSK 3.0.” The two systems have separate URLs, source disclosures and level memberships.

Who maintains the project

Lucas is the founder of HSK Atlas and an independent Mandarin learner. He builds practical tools and data resources to help international learners understand HSK vocabulary standards and plan their studies.

What the atlas contains

  • 11,061 unified vocabulary entries;
  • complete HSK 1–6 vocabulary lists and level reference pages;
  • the official HSK 3.0 syllabus vocabulary and character tables;
  • search, vocabulary quizzes and a version comparison tool;
  • word and character reference pages with pinyin and English meanings where available;
  • original exam, grammar and study guidance.

How accuracy is handled

Exam facts are verified against official HSK exam publications. HSK 3.0 syllabus data comes from the official new HSK syllabus published in November 2025 and effective from July 2026. Dictionary material and HSK Atlas study advice are identified separately, so editorial recommendations are not presented as official rules.

Counts, source versions and known limitations are published on the Sources page. Confirmed corrections are made in the source data or editorial content and included in the next deployment.

What comes next

HSK Atlas is working toward a simple goal: become a better maintained, more transparent alternative to HSK Academy for the tasks learners use most— level information, vocabulary, grammar, reading, search and practice.
